A busy social account can still leave the business with no qualified demand, no controlled customer record and no ownership of the audience it worked to build. Social media should therefore have a defined job before it has a posting calendar.

Give each account one primary role

The role may be discovery, proof, community, customer service, recruitment or distribution to an owned destination. A platform can support more than one objective, but one should be clearly primary enough to guide content and measurement.

Choose platforms based on the audience and the type of evidence they need, not on fashion or generic UAE usage statistics.

Separate organic, paid and creator activity

An organic company update, a paid advertisement and a creator promotion can involve different workflows, disclosures, approvals and responsibilities.

The National Media Authority currently operates an Advertiser Permit framework for individuals conducting advertising activities on social media, with published conditions and exemptions. The exact facts of the person and activity need to be checked before relying on an exemption.

Control claims and permissions before publishing

Maintain evidence for performance, price, product and customer claims. Confirm permission before publishing identifiable customer or employee images, testimonials or private messages.

Platform publishing tools do not replace UAE consumer, media, privacy or cybercrime requirements.

Keep the account under company control

Use company-controlled email and recovery methods, named administrators and multifactor authentication. Record connected agencies, applications and payment access.

Archive material content and approvals where the business may need evidence later. A social feed should not be the only copy of an important commercial record.

Build a response and escalation route

Comments and direct messages can become complaints, payment disputes, personal-data issues or reputational incidents. Define which questions can be answered publicly, when identity needs to be verified and when the conversation must move to a controlled support channel.

Measure the role, not vanity activity

Discovery accounts can be measured by qualified reach and movement to the next step. Service accounts need response and resolution measures. Commercial distribution should connect to qualified visits, enquiries or fulfilled sales.

Followers and views describe platform activity. They do not by themselves prove business value.

The strongest social strategy is often smaller than expected: fewer platforms, clearer ownership, stronger evidence and a defined path from rented attention to a company-controlled relationship.

Current UAE media regulator terminology

The current federal media regulator is the National Media Authority (NMA). Its services include permits for individuals providing advertising or media content on social media and other digital platforms. Permit scope, exemptions, commercial-licence requirements and visitor arrangements should be checked against the current NMA service before a campaign or creator engagement is treated as compliant.
